TechCred

TechCred information for Ohio Valley construction employers

TechCred and the Ohio Valley Construction Education Foundation

Ohio’s TechCred program helps employers upskill current and prospective employees by reimbursing the cost of eligible, technology-focused credentials. Employers awarded funding may be reimbursed up to $1,000 per person, per credential, and up to $30,000 per application period.

The Ohio Valley Construction Education Foundation (OVCEF) is the training provider for ABC Ohio Valley’s apprenticeship and craft training programs and is accredited by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services/ApprenticeOhio. This page lists the credentials OVCEF offers and tells you who to contact with TechCred questions.

For program rules, application periods, and the state’s eligible credential list, visit TechCred.Ohio.Gov.

TechCred Credentials

OVCEF delivers registered apprenticeship and craft training for ABC Ohio Valley member companies. Tuition is $2,500 per school year.

No OVCEF credentials currently appear on the State of Ohio’s TechCred eligible credential list. Eligible credentials will be listed here as the state approves them. The state adds credentials to the list only when an employer requests one in a TechCred application using the “Credential Not Listed” option. If your company would like to request an OVCEF credential, contact us before you apply and we will provide the supporting documentation.

How TechCred Works for Employers

  1. Apply at TechCred.Ohio.Gov during an open application period. The next period runs October 1 through October 30, 2026.
  2. In the application, identify the credential your employees will earn and your training provider. Credentials and providers must be on the state’s eligible lists. If the credential you need is not listed, the application includes an option to request it for review.
  3. Once awarded, enroll your employees. Training must start on or after the first day of the application period and be completed within 12 months.
  4. After your employees earn the credential, submit your reimbursement request to the state with proof of completion, an itemized invoice, and proof of payment.

Reimbursement is awarded by the State of Ohio and is not guaranteed. Always confirm current rules at TechCred.Ohio.Gov.
