Join Matthew Thomas and Natalie Plate for the latest HR Leader Peer Group virtual session (on Teams). Matthew Thomas, vice president of talent at Conger Construction Group, is taking over the group as moderator, helping to facilitate the three remaining sessions planned by Natalie Plate on how to develop an in-house mentoring program. Natalie, owner of consulting firm Let’s Lead HR Consulting (www.letsleadhr.com), will continue leading the sessions on mentoring, which she started in February. In April, we paused the regular sessions to welcome Linda Simpson of Ferguson Construction to tell us about ways to hire 16- and 17-year-olds to do real construction work under a new state program. Matthew will serve for this year and at least next year as our volunteer host of the HR Leader Peer Group, welcoming everyone and inviting introductions as well as opening conversation from members about any general topics or getting feedback from peers on anyone’s question, “How do I …? June’s session is focused on the actual design of a mentoring program. Aug. 6 will discuss matching and pairing mentors and mentees and we encourage you to have your mentors and mentees attend to get some training. Oct. 22 will wrap-up the mentoring topic with ideas on implementation, monitoring and evaluating the success of your mentoring program. With any time left at each session, Matthew will welcome brainstorming on the direction the HR Peer Group would like to go for 2027 and beyond, including whether to do in-person sessions or special events.
