YOUTH WORKFORCE

Vocational and High Schools Great Source for Tomorrow Workforce

As the 2008-2009 high school and vocational classes are still in the beginning stages, many instructors and students enrolled in their first or second year of a classroom construction trade program are looking to find a career in the construction industry. Both the high schools and vocational school are a valuable resource for finding workforce candidates. Today’s vocational and trade based high school program introduce students to the basic knowledge of a specific trade that benefit both the student and employer. While employed with a contractor, these students would continue gain valuable insight to the construction industry with the potential of becoming full time employees.

OVCEF encourages our members to get involved with their schools by serving on an advisory board, set up classroom presentation and even participate in school career fairs are just a few recommendations.

Upon request, the schools could provide you with potential names, documentation and/or recommendation of possible candidates. By contacting the schools directly, contractors gain valuable input from a student’s teacher or counselor.
