The 2009 OVABC Local Craft Championship competition was truly a successful event and a positive one for the history books. There were 16 competitors representing 14 different companies in an all day event that truly highlighted some of the best in the Ohio Valley ABC apprentice training program.

2009 CRAFT CHAMPIONSHIP information
The finalists chosen to compete in the hands-on competition will be selected from those students who had the top written test scores in their trade and meet the eligibility requirements both for the local and national competitions.
2009 eligibility requirements:
- Be actively enrolled and sponsored by an ABC chapter, ABC member firm (in-house training) or ABC “chapter approved” training sponsor program within nine months prior to the National Craft Championship competition.
- Must not be certified as a journeyman more than six months prior to the date of the National Craft Championship. Journeyman is defined as 1-Holding a license from any state, city, county or municipality; or 2-Holding a USDOL/OSAC journeyman credentials, 3-Being compensated as a journeyman) completing your work hours but not yet receiving your certificate of completion.
- Posses no more than six years total experience in the competition being entered (not including secondary school programs),
- Completed no less than 250 hours of classroom training before the local competition, (Electrical minimum of 432 hours of classroom training)
- Did not compete within the same competition in any previous ABC National Craft Championship,
- Employed by an ABC member
