2009-2010 TEST OUT POLICIES & DATES- CREDIT COMPLETED BEFORE REGISTRATION
The OVCEF Board of Trustees approved the 2009 policies and dates for those applicants that are interested in Testing Out of a year of classroom training program. The approval includes reduced fees, defined policies and procedures and dates. It is important that all participants understand that the tests are designated for the more experienced employee and not for the non-experienced new applicant/apprentice. Those applicants/apprentices who have completed previous training programs and/or received prior approval from the OVCEF Board of Trustees do not need to participate.
The Executive Director of the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council announced at a meeting held at the ABC office, that all requests for advancement must be completed prior to submittal of apprenticeship paperwork. Application for apprenticeship must include copy of transcripts and documentation and an OSAC credit voucher before any advancement will be approved.
Contractors with employees interested in participating in TEST OUT must complete and pass the test out before the apprenticeship application will be submitted to OSAC.
Test will be given on August 8 & August 15 and held be 8:30 am – 3:00 pm, 30 minute lunch included. 6 hour maximum time limit. Tests will only be conducted at the ABC Office in Springboro, OH. No further dates have been added.
To assist you, there are some of requirements for Testing Out:
TEST OUT is designed for the experienced employee to advance to a higher classroom level-only. There are no OJT hours given for Test Out advancement. OJT advancements are determined on a case by case basis. Candidates must meet the eligibility and testing requirements to participate may advance into a higher level.
The eligibility and requirements for participation in TEST OUT are:
· Candidates must have a minimum of one year of field experience in the trade they are registering into, must be under the employment of ABC contractor member and obtain permission from their employer before testing.
· Candidate must complete the application process, (test and interview) prior to TEST OUT. You cannot take enrollment and Test Out the same day.
· All TEST OUT’s must be completed before the beginning of classes. There will be no exceptions.
· Tests will be compiled from the NCCER CONTREN curriculum only.
· TEST OUT FEES MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCED AND ARE NOT DEDUCTED FROM TUTION!
· Candidates must complete level one TEST OUT before testing for higher levels of advancements. (Level one will include CORE and the first level of the curriculum of their interested trade.) Those seeking higher advancement must complete the tests in sequential order. There will be no TEST OUT for the final level of their trade.
· Participants must achieve at a minimum score of 70% ON EACH MODULE OF THE TEST of the CONTREN test to pass and pass the Performance Evaluation portion, depending on the Test Out request. If the candidate does not receive the required passing grade, there will be no advancement. Re-testing is not allowed. Tests must be completed in the same day. No multiple level testing will be done on the same day.
· Test Out Verification Form and payment must be received in the ABC office no later than one week before test date. Submission of verification is an agreement of all Test Out policies. Please call the ABC office to get a copy of the verification form if necessary. Should there be more than one candidate, please fill out one form per candidate.
· Each test will have a maximum six hour limit, per level. A half hour lunch break will be allowed. Tests are timed will concluded after 6 hours. Any modules not completed are considered incorrect.
· Candidates may use calculators and current trade code books.
· The CONTREN text may be purchased or loaned out for a 1 week period (deposit required-limited stock available) and reviewed prior to the test or check with your employer to see if there is an apprentice from whom you may borrow a first year book.
· **The test(s) and possible advancement from the results are based on trade knowledge only and not on the ability to perform the task. Submission of Verification/Agreement form is an acceptance that the participant and employer agree to accept the results of the test are trade knowledge-only.
To participate, employer and employee must complete the TEST OUT VERIFICATION/AGREEMENT FORM (which must be signed by both employer and employee), submit form to the ABC office with payment and call the office to reserve your date. Test Out Verification Form and payment must be received in the ABC office no later than one week before test date.
